Heat Treated Pallets for the Chemical Industry

Heat-treated chemical pallets are specifically designed wooden platforms that meet the strict requirements of the chemical and polymer industries, alongside international shipping standards. Unlike pallets treated with chemical fumigants, the heat treatment (HT) process involves heating the wood to a minimum core temperature of 56°C for at least 30 minutes. This method effectively sterilizes the wood, eliminating harmful pests, larvae, and pathogens without leaving behind toxic chemical residues. This is critical for preventing contamination of sensitive chemical products and ensuring the safety of workers who handle the pallets. Compliance with the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is proven by a specific, internationally recognized stamp on the wood.
In the chemical industry, standardized CP (Heat Treated Chemical Pallet) sizes are used to streamline logistics and promote re-usability. Heat-treated CP pallets offer multiple advantages, including enhanced durability and moisture resistance, which extend their lifespan and prevent warping. Using these certified pallets minimizes the risk of customs delays, fines, or rejected shipments when transporting goods across international borders. By combining the specific dimensions of CP pallets with the pest-free and chemical-free nature of heat treatment, manufacturers can ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient supply chain for their hazardous and sensitive materials.

Heat Treated Chemical Pallets

During the manufacturing process, Heat Treated chemical pallets are constructed on specialized pallet lines, ensuring each unit meets precise specifications for durability and consistency. After assembly, these pallets proceed to our biomass kilns for essential heat treatment. This critical step heats the wood to ISPM 15 international standards, eliminating pests. The heat for this process is generated by a biomass boiler that uses excess wood waste from the manufacturing operation, providing an efficient and sustainable energy source for the kilns. This integrated system ensures that the final product is both compliant with international export regulations and produced with a minimal environmental footprint.

Transporting Chemical Pallets

Chemical Pallets, such as the CP1 or CP9, engineered for the chemical industry to carry heavy and hazardous goods. Beyond the pallet itself, the transportation process must comply with strict regulations like the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (ADR) and include mandatory safety measures such as certified packaging, proper labeling with UN numbers and hazard classes, and the use of specialized spill containment pallets (sump pallets). Carriers often belong to specialized networks, like the UK's Hazchem Network, which have ADR-trained drivers and compliant vehicles to ensure safety and prevent costly delays or environmental harm.
